Backwater Farm Life Experiences by Plunge Adventures

The farm is located on the banks of Meenachil River which is part of Kumarakom Wetland System. The Farm is within the limits of Aymanam Village. Arundhati Roy's Booker prize-winning novel The God of Small Things was set at Aymanam.  The farm is about 20 acres where the primary activities is fish farming. The major crops on the farm are coconut, toddy tapping, banana and many other fruits, vegetables and spices. The farm also has few geese, ducks and hens. The farm is the ancestral home of Mr.Johny Moose who lives there with his wife, sons, daughter in laws and granddaughter and has owned place since late 1800s. All the guests at the Farm are welcomed and cared for by the family. We therefore strive to give our guests the undiluted real Kerala experience by getting to know an authentic Kuttanadan (backwater) family, a taste not only of the delicious local cuisine but also the region’s rich biodiversity through different activities the farm has to offer.

While in the farm enjoy activities like Guided kayaking nature tour, Stand up paddle training and tour, Toddy tapping demo, Fishing and Guided nature walk through the farm

Backwater Farm Life Experiences Package with Kayaking

1) Guided Kayaking Nature tour-

Kayak around Kumarakom Backwater areas. Wander down a calm slow river from the farm and return taking a loop along a riverbank lined with water locked villages and farm lands. Spot migratory birds that has made temporary home in Kumarakom Bird sanctuary. Witness village life and get to interact with the friendly locals.

You haven’t tried kayaking? Don’t worry!! Our expert instructor cum guides will train you to perfection. These activities are safe even for kids.

Life jackets will be provided. Trained Local guide cum life guard will follow the guest at all times.

2) Toddy Tapping Demo

3) Fishing with fishing rode (inside the fish farm)

4) We can arrange to grill the freshly caught fish at extra cost (on prior notice)

5) Homemade Traditional Kerala Style Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner in the family house- Veg/Non Veg

Timings: 7 am to 11 am or 1 pm to 6.30 pm or 2.30 pm to 8 pm
